<p>Jonah Lehrer needs rules; he needs help to regain the trust he lost when his plagiarism was unveiled last summer. He made this much clear in a lunch speech given Tuesday at the Knight Foundation’s sixth annual Media Learning Seminar in Miami, Florida. OpenFile audit complete, contributors’ payments to be resolved within weeks: Dinnick

<p>There may finally be an end in sight for OpenFile contributors who are still waiting to be paid. </p><p>OpenFile’s founder and CEO Wilf Dinnick told J-Source that an audit of the company’s books that began in the fall was completed a few weeks ago. Although there are still a few small things that need to be done, such as specific paperwork from OpenFile's tax representatives, Dinnick says "the heavy lifting has been done." </p>

Time to abolish outdated defamatory libel offence

<p>Prosecuting and jailing citizens for defamatory libel smacks of show trials we’d expect from countries such as Russia and China, says media lawyer and Law Times columnist Alan Shanoff. Yet the archaic law remains on the books and was recently used to imprison an Ottawa restaurant owner for publishing false material concerning an online restaurant reviewer.
