<p><em>The Coast</em>'s investigation into then Halifax mayor’s role as executor of a family friend’s estate took the Canadian Association of Journalists’ top prize for investigative journalism.</p><p><span style="font-size: 10px;">Reporter Tim Bousquet of <em>The Coast</em> was the recipient of the 2012 Don McGillivray Award, which is selected from the winners of the CAJ's investigative categories. </span></p>

Meanwhile, the Canadian Press and the <em>Ottawa Citizen</em> each took two prizes. </p><p>The winners were announced at an awards ceremony in Ottawa on Friday. Although the newspaper is handed out by newsies outside the stations, Cameron says actually having the newspaper on Gateway Newstands inside the stations will boost readership.</p>
