Pierre Tourangeau, nouvel ombudsman de Radio-Canada

<p>Actuellement, premier directeur, Contenu, Nouvelles et Actualités aux services français de CBC/Radio-Canada, Pierre Tourangeau troquera son chapeau de cadre le 14 novembre pour celui d'ombudsman. Il remplacera Julie-Miville Dechêne qui a quitté ce poste le 31 juillet pour assumer la présidence du Conseil du statut de la femme.</p>

The power of the Punjabi press

<p>A growing number of people in the GTA say they are becoming victimized by the highly influential, and allegedly irresponsible, ethnic media, <a href="http://www.thestar.com/news/gta/2011/11/06/powerful_punjabi_press_has_its_fans_and_foes.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">reports the <em>Toronto Star</em></a>.</p><p>The <em>Star</em> tells the tale of more than one young bride who has immigrated to Toronto, married, discovered her husband was abusive, and subsequently filed for divorce – only to be pilloried in the local Punjabi media as a fraud.</p>

Seamus O’Regan leaves Canada AM; joins CTV National News

<p>After nine years, Seamus O’Regan is leaving Canada AM to start a new role at CTV.</p><p>The 40-year-old broadcast journalist will join CTV National News as a correspondent. He revealed the news Tuesday morning to viewers.</p><p>O’Regan will say his final goodbye to the morning show’s viewers on Nov. 24. That’s also when the show’s new co-host will be revealed on air.</p>

National Post and t.o. night team up

<p>The <em>National Post</em> has teamed up with t.o. night to provide a <em>Financial Post</em>-branded page in the free evening newspaper.</p><p>The idea, said <em>National Post</em> publisher Douglas Kelly in a <a href="http://www.financialpost.com/markets/news/National+Post+Provide+Daily+Business+Coverage+night/5669859/story.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">press release</a>, is to extend the paper’s business content to young, urban professionals; t.o. night benefits by getting a beefed up business section, to “better reflect our downtown readership.”</p>

Plateforme d’info régionale: Le Soleil craint la concurrence

<p>Sur recommandation du Rapport Payette, la ministre de la Culture, des Communications et de la Condition féminine, Christine Saint-Pierre, a demandé à Télé-Québec au printemps de réfléchir à la création d'une plateforme Web d'information régionale et interrégionale. Mais la direction du quotidien <em>Le Soleil</em> voit ce projet d'un mauvais œil et l'a fait savoir à la ministre dans le cadre de sa consultation publique «Pour une information au service de l'intérêt public».</p>

Kieffer: la justice met la main sur un témoin clef

<p>Plus de sept ans après la disparition en Côte-d'Ivoire du journaliste franco-canadien Guy-André Kieffer, le juge d'instruction français Patrick Ramaël est actuellement à Abidjan pour entendre un témoin clef dans ce dossier: le commandant Anselme Séka Yapo, l'ex-chef de sécurité de Simone Gbagbo, l'épouse du président ivoirien déchu, Laurent Gbagbo.</p>
