Larry Solway, radio and television broadcaster, dies at 83

<p>UPDATE: An <a href="http://www.theglobeandmail.com/news/national/talk-radio-pioneer-larry-solway-let-listeners-speak-their-minds/article2302505/">excellent obit</a> about Larry Solway by Marsha Lederman.</p><p>Larry Solway, a broadcaster and occasional actor, died this morning at the age of 83, according to <a href="http://www.thestar.com/news/gta/2012/01/09/larry_solway_tv_and_radio_broadcaster_dies_at_83.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">a story</a> by <em>Toronto Star</em>.</p><p>Solway passed away after suffering complications stemming from bladder cancer, the <em>Star</em> reports.</p>

CBC did no wrong reporting Ford’s 22 Minutes 911 call: Ombudsman

Manitoba Press Council shuts down after last participating newspapers withdraw

<p>The Manitoba Press Council has ceased operating after the last few participating newspapers withdrew their financial support.</p><p><a href="http://www.winnipegfreepress.com/local/manitoba-press-council-ceases-operating-as-papers-withdraw-136722178.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener"><em>The Winnipeg Free Press</em> reports</a> that newspapers including the <em>Free Press</em> and the <em>Brandon Sun</em> were among those to pull out, prompting the council to shut down on Jan 1.</p>

Global News re-visits viral video; Rob Leth gets ‘pwned’

<p>Global News has posted an extended version of its 2008 news-story-turned-viral-video.</p><p>Rob Leth was doing a stand-up for a weather story where he was timing an inner-tube toboggan race. It was routine enough — until one of the racers hit him head on. Leth flew into the air, nearly completing a 360 before landing on his back, rolling over, and delivering his sign off.</p>
