Big Boys Gone Bananas: a fight for the truth and freedom of speech

<p><a href="http://www.bananasthemovie.com" target="_blank" rel="noopener"><em>Bananas!</em></a>, a documentary made in 2009 by the Swedish journalist and director Fredrik Gertten, tells the story of the effects of the pesticide Nemagon – or DBCP, short for dibromochloropropane – on banana plantation workers in Nicaragua. The film chronicles a lawsuit brought against the Dole Food Company in Los Angeles and the trial that followed, in which the plantation workers claim the banned chemical had made them sterile.

Le Journal de Montreal reporter faces no charges after police raid on his home

<p>Eric Yvan Lemay is a <em>Le Journal de Montreal</em> journalist who exposed some Quebec hospitals for lax security surrounding confidential patient information in February. In March, his home was raided by police, who seized his laptop and clothes. Now, <a href="http://cnews.canoe.ca/CNEWS/Canada/2012/04/04/19592256.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">QMI Agency has reported</a> that he faces no criminal charges.</p>
