CBC Kitchener Waterloo Morning Edition goes off air pending CRTC approval

<p> </p><h1> </h1><p>CBC Radio has to take its Morning Edition show in Kitchener-Waterloo off air while it waits for CRTC approval.</p><p>CBC filed its application for the Waterloo Region service with the CRTC in June 2012, but it did not recieve permission to broadcast. The show had launched just over a month ago and was the first new station the CBC had opened in Ontario in the last 40 years.</p><p>The broadcaster called it an "unfortunate oversight."</p>

Postmedia employees spent $100,000 on U.S. and international roaming charges since September

<p><strong>By Tamara Baluja</strong></p><p>If you’re going to travel with the company phone on a personal trip, turn off the data, Postmedia told its employees in a stern <a href="https://docs.google.com/document/d/1g1ZwuxleNZUp-QRZo2ahsfBMuA0sd2UBDu93gWH7Nl0/edit">memo</a>.</p><p>Even as Postmedia engages in cost cutting measures to make up for advertising revenue shortfall, its employees incurred U.S. and international roaming charges in excess of $100,000, with some individual users racking up bills of $10,000.</p>

Compressions chez TC Média: une gifle à l’info hyperlocale à Montréal?

<p> </p><p>TC Media aurait signifié à 11 journalistes de ses hebdos de quartier de Montréal, lundi, qu’ils perdaient leur poste, soit la moitié de ses effectifs.</p><p>Le Syndicat de l'information de Transcontinental, affilié à la CSN, a dénoncé ces compressions <a href="http://www.newswire.ca/fr/story/1150717/mises-a-pied-sauvages-tc-media-met-la-hache-dans-l-information-de-ses-journaux-locaux-montrealais">dans un communiqué publié lundi soir</a>, estimant que l’entreprise « met la hache dans l’information locale » à Montréal. </p>

Fox News anchor: Canada “not great at the television”

<p>While news from Canada of the arrests of two alleged  terror suspects made headlines around the world, an incredulous Fox News anchor Shepard Smith took a swipe at Canada while listening in to an RCMP press conference in English and French.</p><p>“Let’s get the details in English and in French. It’s how they roll," he said as the RCMP began their press conference. "And they’re still saying hello over there, and they’re gonna say hello for a long time. God love Canada, but they’re not great at the television,” he said, shrugging.</p>
