Students worry about future of University of Ottawa’s journalism program

Michelle Lissel joins Global Winnipeg as weather anchor

Canadian Jewish News returns to print

<p><strong>By Paul Weinberg and Tamara Baluja</strong></p><p>Canada’s only independent Jewish newspaper returned to print on Aug. 1.</p><p><em>Canadian Jewish News </em>president Donald Carr said devoted readers forced the board to reconsider its decision to go to a digital-only version in the face of declining advertising revenue. The 42-year-old weekly newspaper published its last edition on June 20 – two months after warning readers of the change. A third of the staff was laid off, including long-time editor Mordechai Ben-Dat.</p>

Mark Trueman named new executive producer of Global Toronto

He replaces former executive producer Jason Keel, who left the position in April.</p>

Le baccalauréat en journalisme de L’Université d’Ottawa est suspendu

<p><strong>Dans son édition de ce matin, le journal <em>Le Droit</em> affirme avoir mis la main sur un rapport de mai 2012, dans lequel un comité interne à l’Université d’Ottawa conclurait à la nécessité de suspendre «le plus tôt possible», voire d’abolir purement et simplement son baccalauréat en journalisme. «Mal construit», ce programme porterait «atteinte à la réputation» de l’établissement.
