This fall, much-loved one-time Breakfast Television host Liza Fromer will be back on the air. Fromer is set to host Global News’ new Toronto morning show, appropriately dubbed The Morning Show. She will be joined by Dave Gerry, Kris Reyes and two others — not yet announced.
In a press release, Global describes the new show as “more than just a breakfast news program that retells the same stories every half hour.” Instead, it says, the show will feature broadcast veterans engaging in unscripted, interactive conversations about the day-to-day topics affecting Torontonians.
The Morning Show will also incorporate social media tools into all aspects of the news cast — giving viewers the opportunity to participate in the on-set conversations as they occur.
“With The Morning Show,” said Ward Smith, Global Toronto news director and station manager, in the release, “Global Toronto is delivering a product that will completely re-energize morning news in this market.”
Don’t live in Toronto? Global is also launching new morning shows in the Maritimes (late-November), Winnipeg (mid-September), Regina (late-August), and Saskatoon (mid-September).
