Manufacturing and production research suggests that magazine publishers
in the U.S. (and likely in Canada) are increasingly moving toward
outsourcing their pre-press operations, Folio reports, with in-house operations down
10% over last year.
The number of publishers doing all pre-press in-house has decreased to 51% from 60% last year, while complete outsourcing has stayed at 17% of publishers.
The majority of respondents spent less than $5,000 on new technology last year, while 37% didn’t invest in publishing technology at all.
