Nygard International, a clothing company started by Canadian Peter J. Nygard, is suing the CBC after a reporter and camera operator entered the company’s New York fashion show and recorded the event without signing a written agreement, according to The Hollywood Reporter (THR).

The complaint posted on THR states that the cause of action in the New York court is “unauthorized copying and recording of Plaintiff’s copyrighted performance material.”

In addition, the event was held on private property so trespassing is another grounds for complaint.

According to the complaint, a man who identified himself as CBC reporter David Common and an unnamed camera operator, entered the event and made a recording.
