The New York Times has added TimesPeople to its website’s repertoire of tools. The TimesPeople feature allows users to share articles,
videos, slideshows, blog posts, as well as comment on articles and make recommendations to other users. As well, TimesPeople has off-site capabilities, such as adding comments and links to users’ Facebook feeds. The feature is currently in its beta release and can only be used with Firefox, but according to the Times it will be publicly launched later this year and will be available on all major browsers without a plug-in at that time. Any registered user of NYTimes.com can use TimesPeople.
The Editors Weblog has a CNET video interview with a senior software developer and a senior software architect from the Times, explaining the ideas behind the new feature and how users can benefit.
