The Hamilton Spectator reported today it lost a major court ruling when Ontario Superior Court Justice James Ramsay ordered the paper to hand over photographs of a protest in Caledonia to the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP). The Spec‘s managing editor Jim Poling said he was “extremely disappointed” by the ruling and the paper will decide by Monday if it plans to appeal the decision. The 170 photos taken by Spectator photographers are wanted by police for an investigation into assaults on five officers.
