Steve Johnson, the Chicago Tribune’s Internet critic, reviews Andrew Keen’s new book The Cult of the Amateur: How Today’s Internet Is Killing Our Culture. While Johnson agrees with Keen that “we are celebrating the amateur to the point of absurdity,” he has faith that faddish YouTube clips and blogs eventually will be weeded out in favour of “reliable information” and “art that engages.”
