Andrew Lundy has been named interim editor-in-chief of Canadian Press.

Andrew Lundy has been named interim editor-in-chief of Canadian Press.

Lundy, who is the director of digital at the newswire, will oversee the English editorial operations of the newswire until outgoing editor-in-chief Scott White’s permanent replacement is named, president Malcolm Kirk said in a memo. White is leaving the Canadian Press after a 35-year career for another industry job. His last day is March 21.

“Andrew is on holidays this week, but he has been already working with Scott on some transition matters,” Kirk said in a memo sent to staff on Monday.

According the memo, Lundy joined CP in 2012. He was previously director of online for Global News and editor-in-chief of MSN Canada. 

Kirk said the search to replace White will start soon and include internal and external candidates.
