Ed Greenspon has been appointed the Canadian editor-at-large of Bloomberg. His primary focus will be expanding the company’s investigative and explanatory journalism in Canada.
"Bloomberg has a business model capable of supporting great reporting and the ambition to be the best wherever it competes," said Greenspon in a statement. "Canada can use more serious journalism. I'm excited to be asked to help with that objective."

Ed Greenspon has been appointed the Canadian editor-at-large of Bloomberg. His primary focus will be expanding the company’s investigative and explanatory journalism in Canada.

In the past two years, Bloomberg has increased its Canadian news staff by 50 per cent, primarily in Toronto, expanded its office in Calgary and added a correspondent in Winnipeg for the first time.

"We welcome Ed to Bloomberg News with excitement, knowing that his knowledge and experience will elevate our coverage of this important country," said Laurie Hays, senior executive editor of Bloomberg, in a statement.
Greenspon will report to executive editor Jonathan Kaufman in New York and senior executive editor Hays. He will work alongside Canada Managing Editor David Scanlan in the Toronto office.
Greenspon was the Toronto Star’s vice-president of business development when he left the company in December. Previously, he was editor-in-chief of The Globe and Mail for seven years and the Prairie bureau chief of the Financial Post.
