St. John’s-based newspaper, the Independent is preparing to shut down in the next couple of weeks, according to a Canadian Press report.
Publisher Brian Dobbin is backing out of the venture and while editor-in-chief Ryan Cleary is reported to be “pursuing expressions of interest,” the paper is planning to stop publishing within two weeks.
Clealy said the paper struggled to compete in the local advertising market.
