CBC News sports correspondent Tom Harrington will become the new co-host of CBC’s investigative consumer journalism show Marketplace. He joins co-host Erica Johnson.
Harrington has been nominated for Gemini awards four times.
“I start in September, 27 years as a sports reporter coming to an end with pride, happiness and excitement about my new challenge,” he wrote on Twitter after the announcement.
In a press release, CBC writes:
“Harrington graduated from Memorial University in 1978 with a Bachelor of Arts degree and was vice-president of the Students’ Union, playing a key role in the campus referendum that would lead to the construction of the Queen Elizabeth II Library. He has a Masters in Journalism from the University of Western Ontario. From his beginnings at CBC Calgary, and then later in the Montreal newsroom Harrington moved to Toronto, where he’s most recently been the face and voice of CBC News on sports stories and issues, reporting for The National and elsewhere. He’s also appeared as guest host on CBC Radio’s The Current, As It Happens, World Report and Cross Country Checkup.”
