Stephen Ward to become director of George S. Turnbull Center in Portland, Oregon

Stephen Ward will become the director of the George S. Turnbull Center in Portland, Oregon, which is part of the University of Oregon’s School of Journalism.

Ward has spent the last four years as the director of the Center for Journalism Ethics at the University of Wisconsin-Madison and as the school’s James E. Burgess Professor of Journalism Ethics. Prior to that, he was the director of University of British Columbia’s School of Journalism.

Ward will take up the new position in June 2013, after the completion of the academic year in Madison, Wisconsin.

Ward is the media ethics columnist for a number of publications, including J-Source, PBS Mediashift and Media magazine. He is the founding chair of the Ethics Advisory Committee of the Canadian Association of Journalists, and the author of numerous books on journalism ethics.
