Waldie, who was most recently The Globe’s European bureau chief, will start his new role April 9.
“Paul is a familiar face to many of you, a veteran reporter and a consummate professional in all facets of the business of journalism, from television to print to digital,” said editor-in-chief David Walmsley in a memo.
According to the memo, Waldie began his career as an earnings reporter for the Financial Post and then became national editor at the National Post before joining the Globe. He has won three National Newspaper Awards for business reporting and a National Magazine Award for business coverage.
Waldie succeeds Derek DeCloet, who left to become director of content strategy at Rogers Publishing last month.
