Non profit future for journalism?

ProPublica won a lot of attention when it was announced last year, but it is not the only new experiment in non-profit journalism. The Christian Science Monitor (itself a non-profit entity) has an interesting article about the Voice in San Diego and MinnPost in Minneapolis, two non-profit newspapers that focus on local coverage. ProPublica, of course, was founded by former Wall Street Journal managing editor Paul Steiger. It will focus on creating in-depth public service and investigative journalism.
