Newspaper profitability linked to newsroom spending

Investing in news quality has a stronger positive influence on newspaper profitability thanspending on distribution, circulationor advertising, according toresearchout ofthe University of Missouri-Columbia. Researchers from the journalism and marketing departments teamed upand analyzed financial data from more than 900 newspapers gathered over a 10-year period.
