The National, the newspaper helmed by ex-Daily Telegraph editor Martin Newland based in Abu Dhabi, hit newsstands on April 17. The paper boasts a staff of 200 reporters and editors, drawn from acclaimed newspapers around the world, and aims to “to reflect society, help that society evolve and, perhaps most importantly, promote the bedrock traditions and virtues that must be preserved even in times of change,” according to Newland. It also hopes to establish Abu Dhabi as a global economic centre.
