New N.S. newspaper closes

The Valley Today, a newspaper launched three months ago in the Annapolis Valley in Nova Scotia, has shut down operations, the Globe and Mail reports. Its backers had thought that the area was ripe for an evening daily, since people would have more time to read the paper then. Evening papers, once common, are now an oddity. Chairman Hugh Roddis said that ad sales and circulation were improving but not at a pace that could sustain the business.
