News agencies widely reported that Iranian-Canadian journalist Maziar Bahari — arrested in June after Iran’s controversial elections — is free on bail. Agence France-Presse quoted Iran’s semi-official news agency ILNA: “Maziar Bahari was freed from Evin prison on Saturday evening after paying bail worth three billion rials (300,000 dollars).”
“We are relieved that NEWSWEEK journalist Maziar Bahari is home with his family today. We would like to thank all of those who supported Maziar through this long and uncertain period,” said America’s Newsweek, which employs Bahari. Previous J-Source posts are here.
