Magazines Canada names volunteer of the year

Industry association Magazines Canada has named Patrick Walsh its 2008 Volunteer of the Year.

Walsh, editor of Outdoor Canada magazine, sits on two Magazines Canada committees and has been on the board of the National Magazine Awards Foundation (NMAF) for many years. He is current president of the NMAF board.

Magazines Canada CEO Mark Jamison said:

“Pat Walsh is the quintessential industry volunteer. He is generous with his time and his expertise, and he is curious, always willing to wade into areas that enhance his understanding of the entire magazine business.”

Walsh started in magazines more than 25 years ago. His first gig was as assistant editor of Muskoka Life. In 2004 he was named editor of the year by the Canadian Society of Magazine Editors.
