The first issue of Friday Night magazine hit Toronto this month and according to a launch announcement, the mag will delve “beyond the headlines into issues that matter most to the Greater Toronto Area’s Jewish population (an estimated 180,000).”
The magazine’s website states that Friday Night will be distributed six times a year to more than 10,000 people living in the Greater Toronto Area. A one-year subscription costs $18. However, a Masthead Online article explains that the January/’February launch issue was a test, with 3,000 copies printed.
Co-publisher Paul Grossinger (along with David Bale) told Masthead: “The goal is to get to a paid subscription model by January of 2011,” which would then allow for a full-time editor other staff.
