The practice of news websites linking to blogs and other news websites is the basis of a copyright infringement lawsuit launched against The New York Times.

GateHouse Media, which owns hundreds of newspapers and websites, filed a lawsuit against, a site that links to local blogs and newspapers, and is owned by The New York Times Co.

These sites are known as aggregator sites because they often involve merely taking an RSS (Real Simple Syndication) feed, which automatically posts the material file on the original blog or website.
