Six staffers at New Brunswick’s only French-language daily newspaper, L’Acadie Nouvelle, have been let go.
According to a CBC report the newspaper announced that the employees laid off include two photographers and a sports reporter.
In addition, wage hikes scheduled for July 1 have been cancelled.
The paper’s assistant general manager said a ten per cent drop in revenue is the reason for the cuts.
The cuts were minimized by staff concessions, including the wage freeze and one-week unpaid leave. The paper will no longer publish on stat holidays.
