“Montreal’s La Presse newspaper, the
biggest French-language broadsheet in North America, is threatening to
cease publication on Dec. 1,” the Canadian Press reports.
According to CP, La Presse spokesperson Caroline Jamet said the paper couldn’t afford to continue in its current state. She said that staff were told Sept. 3 that management and the union have 3 months to reach a cost-cutting agreement.
The paper stopped publishing its Sunday edition earlier this summer.
