A new niche store called Motto Vancouver, opening soon, will specialize in hard-to-find independent magazines and zines.
The store’s parent company is the Switzerland-headquartered company Motto Distribution. Launched in 2007, Motto serves museums, galleries and concept stores. It opened its first bookstore, Motto Berlin, in 2008, and later Motto Brooklyn: both spaces function as both a store and a meeting place for producers of small publications.
Motto Vancouver is a collaboration with VanCity-based tri-annual arts mag Fillip, D.B. Scott reports on his Canadian Magazines blog.
Motto Vancouver opens on Dec. 9 at the Or Gallery, 555 Hamilton St.
