Seattletimes.com producer Tiffany Campbell created a slideshow with tips about using smartphones to report the news.
Mojos Unite, a blog for “mobile journalists to share thoughts and information” posts a few of the slideshow’s highlights:
-Slide 12: An iPhone photo was used for A1 by the Milwaukee-Wisconsin Journal Sentinel
-Slides 24-32: Livestreaming via smartphone
-Slides 35-37: Using Posterous for mobile blogging
-Slides 39-41: Mobile mapping
-Slides 46-59: Mobile apps for journalists
Slide 60 shows some of the downsides to mobile reporting, including battery life, data charges and audio/lighting quality.
A tip from the slideshow: use airline mode when recording so you’re not interuppted by a phone call or other alerts.
