Halberstam driver pleads no contest

A university student was convicted of misdemeanour vehicular manslaughter in the death of journalist David Halberstam, the Mercury News reports. Kevin Jones, a UC Berkeley student, pleaded no contest as part of a deal requiring him to serve up to 30 days in a work-release program. Halberstam’s widow reacted with shock to the evidence that Jones had a record of driving infractions.
