Globe and Mail reporter Graeme Smith’s online video series, Talking to the Taliban, has been nominated for an Emmy Award.
The project was nominated, alongside work from Reuters, The New York Times and The Washington Post, for this year’s Annual News and Documentary Emmys.
Smith’s series was acknowledged in the New Approaches to News and Documentary category.
The awards will be handed out at a ceremony in New York on Sept. 21.
Barbara Walters will receive the Lifetime Achievement Award and CNN Productions, CNN’s documentary unit, will receive the President’s Award for “the network’s longstanding commitment to long form documentaries.”
