In the latest round of buyouts at Postmedia Network, five staff are leaving The Gazette, in Montreal.
Reporter Jan Ravensbergen, editor writer Hubert Bauch, associate managing editor Michael Shenker and desk clerk Sherry Hattem are leaving the organization. J-Source also spoke with one Gazette reporter who confirmed she is taking the buyout, but asked her name not be published.
Catherine Wallace, managing editor at the Gazette, said in an email to J-Source that “the departure dates are staggered, but [Friday] was the last day for a few of them.” She wouldn’t discuss who left the company or how many left, saying it was a “personnel issue.”
Last week, seven staff confirmed with J-Source that they took buyouts at sister Postmedia newspaper, the Ottawa Citizen.
