The Canadian Online Publishing Awards, a program produced by Masthead Online, has announced a list of 2009 finalists.

The awards honour English and French-language online publications and in order to be eligible publications must have some kind of web-first editorial content that is 80% Canadian (produced by Canadians living in Canada). In addition, websites published by daily newspapers, community newspapers, book publishers and broadcasters are not eligible, although “magazine websites” produced by newspaper publishers are acceptable.

Work is judged in two divisions: red and blue. The red division is for consumer, custom, religious and public association sites. The blue is for B2B, farm, scholarly and professional association sites.
