Playboy has more Facebook fans than CNN, The Economist, The New York Times and the BBC.
Facebakers, a portal run by Candytech that deciphers Facebook statistics, applications and data is now indexed by category.
Editors Weblog presents the Facebook page rankings for the media and journalism category, writing:
“Although Playboy‘s dominant position may tell us more about human nature than marketing savvy, there are some more telling figures in the data. The Onion, Discovery Magazine and The Economist all enjoy proportionally more popularity on Facebook than would be expected based on their web traffic ranking (according to Alexa.com). Meanwhile, The BBC ranks proportionally lower than its relative web traffic.”
