Marie-José Desmarais has been named publisher of Châtelaine, Rogers Publishing Ltd. announced.
The new position is an expansion of her current role as publisher of the French and English editions of LouLou.
Desmarais has been acting editor of Châtelaine since late 2008. As publisher she replaces Kerry Mitchell, who will remain publisher of the English Chatelaine and will continue to drive the “overall brand strategy and growth at both Châtelaine and Chatelaine.”
Desmarais was a Châtelaine contributor from 1992- 1999 and later became the magazine’s lifestyle director.
According to the appointment announcement, Desmarais’ first priority is to recruit a new editor-in-chief.
