Retired journalism professor Catherine McKercher and her partner, Vinny Mosco, have been named joint recipients of the Association of Educators in Journalism and Mass Communication Professional Freedom and Responsibility award.
Retired journalism professor Catherine McKercher and her partner, Vinny Mosco, have been named joint recipients of the Association of Educators in Journalism and Mass Communication Professional Freedom and Responsibility award.
McKercker taught at Carleton University’s School of Journalism, while Mosco is a professor emeritus in Queen's University’s department of sociology and the former Canada Research Chair in communication and society.
The award will be handed out at the AEJMC conference in Montreal in August, the Carleton University School of Journalism stated in a newsletter. According to the newsletter, previous award winners include Noam Chomsky and Christopher Hitchens.
"Needless to say, I am thrilled, touched and incredibly honoured," McKercher said.
