As the Independent’s picture editor and only full time photographer, I work hand in hand with editors and reporters to capture the essence of stories that appear in all sections of the paper. These stories and photography come from the entire province and abroad.
While the Independent is in the business of breaking news, the challenge with a once-a-week newspaper is also to produce fresh images and stories about topics that are often already touched on by other media.
My portfolio of pictures, submitted to the CAJ awards for 2007, includes 20 of what I considered my best shots of the year. The images come from the world of sports arts, news and politics.
