The objective of the Canadian Journal of Communication is to publish Canadian research and scholarship in the field of communication. In pursuing this objective, particular attention is paid to research that has a distinctive Canadian flavour by virtue of choice of topic or by drawing on the legacy of Canadian theory and research. The purview of the journal is the entire field of communication studies as practiced in Canada or with relevance to Canada.
Solicited and contributed manuscripts must be double-spaced and submitted online via this site. Submission of an original manuscript to the Journal will be taken to mean that it represents original work not previously published, that it is not being considered elsewhere for publication; that the author is willing to assign copyright to the journal as per a contract that will be sent to the author just prior to publication and, if accepted for publication, it will not be published elsewhere in the same form, in any language, without the consent of the editor. Authors must take full responsibility for all figures, etc. and present them as camera-ready copy. When submitting online, please note that you need to click on ‘Save/Continue’ at the bottom of each page in order to proceed to the next step in the submission process:
Go to the registration page to register as a user of the online system if you do not yet have a username and password. Click on ‘Submit’ once you are logged into the system to initiate the submission process. In ‘Step 1’ of the submission process, ensure that a) You select a section from the ‘Journal Section’ menu. b) You check off each item in the ‘Submission Checklist’. In ‘Step 2’ of the submission process, ensure that a) You provide your personal information (name, email, etc.) b) You provide the title of your article or reviewed book. In ‘Step 3’ of the submission process, ensure that a) You upload a copy of your manuscript in Word (.doc) or RTF (.rtf). Note: Include all figures/images as images in the manuscript file. Ensure that images are high-quality (BMP, TIFF, or EPS) formats.
Unless you have supplementary materials (i.e. multimedia (audio, video, supplementary images), appendices, research instruments, etc.) you can simply click on ‘Save/Continue’ in ‘Step 5’. Note: Please ensure that supplementary images (i.e. images that are not embedded in the text and will appear only in the online version of the article) are in web-quality (GIF, JPEG, or PNG) formats. Note: Please ensure that supplementary audio and video files are in MPEG formats (i.e. MP3 for audio and MPEG for video). To accommodate the widest readership possible and users with dial-up Internet access, higher compression rates and, consequently, smaller files are preferred.
Finish your submission by reviewing your submission details in ‘Step 6’.
