June Callwood, remembered for her substantial body of journalistic work and for her passionate activism on behalf of vulnerable people, died on Saturday, April 14, 2007. The Toronto Star’s obituary calls her “the fusion of newsmaker and news reporter.” The Globe and Mail reports that at her last public appearance, she told spectators, “If you see an injustice being committed, you aren’t an observer, you are a participant.”
