Nominations open for Canadian Journalism Foundation Lifetime Achievement Award

<p>Nominations are being accepted <a href="https://cjffjc.wufoo.eu/forms/cjf-lifetime-achievement-award-nomination-2014/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">online</a> for the annual Canadian Journalism Foundation <a href="http://cjf-fjc.ca/awards_lifetime" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Lifetime Achievement Award</a>. The award recognizes an individual who has made an outstanding lifetime contribution to journalism in Canada. Deadline for nominations is <strong>Jan. 30, 2014</strong>.</p>

Deadline approaching for 2014 Canadian Hillman Prize

<p>The Sidney Hillman Foundation is now accepting nominations for the <a href="http://www.hillmanfoundation.org/canadian%20hillman%20prize" target="_blank" rel="noopener">2014 Canadian Hillman Prize</a> honouring excellence in journalism in service of the common good. The Hillman Prize seeks out the best investigative reporting that draws attention to social or economic injustice and hopefully leads to corrective measures. We strive to recognize discernment of a significant news story, resourcefulness and courage in reporting, skill in relating the story and the impact of the coverage.</p>

Kamloops Daily News shutting down after more than 80 years

National Newspaper Awards accepting submissions

<p><strong>The National Newspaper Awards (NNAs) will begin accepting entries for the 2013 competition on Dec. 15, 2013.</strong></p><p>Entries are being accepted in each of the 22 categories between Dec. 15, 2013, and Jan. 15, 2014.</p><p>To be eligible, an entry must have been published first in 2013, in English or French, by a Canadian daily newspaper (whether in print or online) or by an online publication that has met criteria established by the NNA Board of Governors in accordance with the rules of entry.</p>
