Postmedia puts B.C. printing facility and Calgary Herald building up for sale

<p>Postmedia Network announced it has put its <em>Calgary Herald</em> building and Surrey, B.C., printing facility for the <em>Vancouver Sun </em>and <em>The Province </em>on the market. It also entered a print outsourcing agreement with TC Transcontinental Printing for production of the <em>Calgary Herald</em> as of November 2013.</p><p>The sales would mean the loss of approximately 200 job losses in B.C. and another 60 in Calgary, Postmedia’s vice-president of communications Phyllise Gelfand told J-Source.</p>

Le Devoir accueille sa boursière AJIQ

<p><strong>Anabel Cossette Civitella débute son stage au Devoir ce matin. La jeune récipiendaire de la bourse AJIQ-Le Devoir va passer quatre semaines à la rédaction du quotidien de la rue de Bleury. Elle est la dixième à bénéficier de cette opportunité, résultat d’une entente intervenue entre l’Association des journalistes indépendants et Le Devoir au début des années 2000, pour faire cesser le conflit qui perdurait entre les deux parties concernant le respect des droits d’auteur.</strong></p><p><em>Par Hélène Roulot-Ganzmann</em></p>

“Gypsies” reference on Ezra Levant’s show violated broadcasters’ code

<p><strong>By the Canadian Broadcast Standards Council</strong></p><p>The Canadian Broadcast Standards Council (CBSC) released its <a href="http://www.cbsc.ca/english/decisions/2013/130909.php" target="_blank" rel="noopener">decision</a> concerning comments made about “Gypsies” on Sun News Network.  During his program <em>The Source</em>, Ezra Levant made negative comments about that ethnic group.  The CBSC found the broadcast in violation of the Canadian Association of Broadcasters’ (CAB) Code of Ethics and Equitable Portrayal Code.</p>
