Property tycoon Sam Zell has purchased the Tribune Co., which owns the Los Angeles Times and the Chicago Cubs, for $8.2 billion. Zell’s purchase of the company also includes several television stations and a group of smaller newspapers. The billionaire says he will keep the company’s holdings together except for the Cubs, which will be sold.
