Well, they didn’t make us wait long for <a href="http://www.caj.ca/?p=2362">the rest of them</a>.</p><p>Finalists for five more categories, including open television (less than five minutes), open television (greater than five minutes), open newspaper, community newspaper and daily excellence, were announced today.</p>

READ MORE<p>Nominations for the <a href="http://abclifeliteracy.ca/peter-gzowski-life-literacy-fellowship" target="_blank" rel="noopener">2012 Peter Gzowski Life Literacy Fellowship</a> are now being accepted. The fellowship is intended for a journalist or journalism student with an interest in pursuing stories pertaining to adult literacy issues. The successful applicant will receive $3,000 in funding to help in the research and development of a media story in print, broadcast or online. </p>
READ MORE<p>The Professional Writers Association of Canada is <a href="http://www.pwac.ca/eventsandresources/pwacawards" target="_blank" rel="noopener">accepting submissions</a> for two award categories open to all Canadian writers: Features and Short Articles.</p><p>The Features Awards is for submissions that are 1,201 words and over that the writer received payment for and was published in a Canadian publication during the 2011 calendar year.</p>
READ MORE<p>Newspapers Canada has announced <a href="http://www.newspaperscanada.ca/CCNAwards/finalists2012">the finalists for the 2012 Canadian Community Newspaper Awards</a>, the winners of which will be presented at the Ink&Beyond conference on April 26 in Toronto. </p><p>According to the release, 342 newspapers submitted 2494 entries from works published in 2011. The 3 finalists in each category, divided by circulation, can be found <a href="http://www.newspaperscanada.ca/CCNAwards/finalists2012" target="_blank" rel="noopener">here</a>, on Newspapers Canada's website. </p>

The separate book and magazine awards recognize excellence of writing and research in the area of social justice writing and also provide support for independent freelance writers during the publishing process.</p><p>The Book Award for 2012 has been increased to $5,000. The Magazine Award for 2012 is set at $2,000. </p>
