Full list of CAJ Awards finalists announced

<p> </p><p>Yesterday, we reported that the CAJ had released its <a href="http://j-source.ca/article/first-group-2011-caj-award-finalists-announced">preliminary list of CAJ Awards finalists</a>. Well, they didn’t make us wait long for <a href="http://www.caj.ca/?p=2362">the rest of them</a>.</p><p>Finalists for five more categories, including open television (less than five minutes), open television (greater than five minutes), open newspaper, community newspaper and daily excellence, were announced today.</p>

Atlantic Journalism Awards finalists announced

First group of 2011 CAJ Award finalists announced

<p>The Canadian Association of Journalists has <a href="http://www.newswire.ca/en/story/945143/first-group-of-2011-caj-awards-finalists-announced">announced its first batch of finalists</a> for this year’s awards, which will be presented at the annual CAJ conference gala and banquet on April 28.</p><p>Categories for which finalists have been announced include Magazine, Open Radio News/Current Affairs, Computer-Assisted Reporting, Photjournalism, Print Feature, Scoop, CAJ/CNW Student Award of Excellence.</p>

Nominations for 2012 Peter Gzowski Life Literacy Fellowship now being accepted

<p>Nominations for the <a href="http://abclifeliteracy.ca/peter-gzowski-life-literacy-fellowship" target="_blank" rel="noopener">2012 Peter Gzowski Life Literacy Fellowship</a> are now being accepted. The fellowship is intended for a journalist or journalism student with an interest in pursuing stories pertaining to adult literacy issues. The successful applicant will receive $3,000 in funding to help in the research and development of a media story in print, broadcast or online. </p>

PWAC Awards accepting submissions

<p>The Professional Writers Association of Canada is <a href="http://www.pwac.ca/eventsandresources/pwacawards" target="_blank" rel="noopener">accepting submissions</a> for two award categories open to all Canadian writers: Features and Short Articles.</p><p>The Features Awards is for submissions that are 1,201 words and over that the writer received payment for and was published in a Canadian publication during the 2011 calendar year.</p>

2012 Canadian Community Newspaper Awards finalists announced

<p>Newspapers Canada has announced <a href="http://www.newspaperscanada.ca/CCNAwards/finalists2012">the finalists for the 2012 Canadian Community Newspaper Awards</a>, the winners of which will be presented at the Ink&Beyond conference on April 26 in Toronto. </p><p>According to the release, 342 newspapers submitted 2494 entries from works published in 2011. The 3 finalists in each category, divided by circulation, can be found <a href="http://www.newspaperscanada.ca/CCNAwards/finalists2012" target="_blank" rel="noopener">here</a>, on Newspapers Canada's website. </p>

Call for submissions for the 2012 Dave Greber Freelance Writers Awards

<p> </p><p>Freelance writers wishing to apply for the book or magazine award can submit their work from Monday, March 12, 2012 until Friday June 15, 2012 at 5 PM PST. The separate book and magazine awards recognize excellence of writing and research in the area of social justice writing and also provide support for independent freelance writers during the publishing process.</p><p>The Book Award for 2012 has been increased to $5,000. The Magazine Award for 2012 is set at $2,000. </p>

NNA nominations: Globe leads with 24 and Star follows with 9

<p><span lang="en">The National Newspaper Awards <a href="http://www.nna-ccj.ca/?p=1453&lang=en">unveiled the list of finalists</a> today.</span></p><p><span lang="en">Here's a quick tally of the number of nominations: Globe and Mail-24; Toronto Star-9; </span>Waterloo Region Record-5; La Presse-4; Winnipeg Free Press-3; Canadian Press, Edmonton Journal, Halifax Chronicle-Herald, London Free Press, Postmedia News, and Reuters- 2 each.</p><p>The winners will be announced in Toronto on April 27.</p><p> </p>
