READ MORE<p> </p><p>The National Magazine Awards has <a href="http://www.magazine-awards.com/index.cfm?ci_id=1235&la_id=1">opened its call for entries</a> for the 36<sup>th</sup> annual NMAs, which will take place on June 7, 2013.</p><p>The awards honour “the best in magazine publishing from 2012,” and magazines and freelancers are encouraged to apply to the 48 categories the awards offer.</p>

In his acceptance speech, he called for journalists to keep pressing for camera access in court, saying that when the press – and by virtue, the public – is denied access to courts electronically, it is, quite simply, not good enough.</em></p>

READ MORE<p> </p><p>The Jack Webster Foundation honoured journalism in British Columbia last week, presenting its annual awards to news organizations.</p><p>The big winner on the night was the <em>Vancouver Sun</em>, taking home five awards, including Patricia Graham’s Bruce Hutchinson Lifetime Achievement Award. The CBC, which had been nominated for a total of 12 awards across all platforms, took home three. The <em>Vancouver Province </em>won in two categories.</p>
