The Association of Food Journalists (AFJ) has awarded the Toronto Star with “best newspaper
food story” for a 2009 exposé on fish substitutions at Toronto sushi
restaurants.

The Salt Lake Tribune won second place for “How Clean Is That Kitchen. Third place went to the Miami New Times for “Bogus Beef: Miami Restaurants say It’s Kobe, But It’s Not.”

AFJ is a North American organization that awards excellence in reporting and writing, newspaper food section design and content, food illustration and food photography.
