Globe and Mail reporter John Ibbitson’s report from India — and a news conference question about Canada selling nuclear technology to India — earned a stinging and highly-opinionated rebuke by an Indian news service. Ibbitson, a reporter traveling with Prime Minister Stephen Harper, had asked India’s Prime Minister Manmohan Singh how Canadians can trust that any technology sent to India will be safely and appropriately used. That question, and Ibbitson’s report, sparked an Indian story slagging Canada for “the ignorance of the Canadian press,” noted Jane Taber in the Globe’s political blog.
