The launch of globalstudentjournalists.net
reminds us that students are more than students – they are working journalists.
Sometimes they out-scoop
the seasoned pros, or uncover sensitive
defense contract information. They’ve also been known to get fired for
hitting nerves – and they even go on strike from
time to time. Students publish groundbreaking articles in school publications
like the Ryerson Review of Journalism and The Crow,
while writing for campus
newspapers and freelancing on
the side. J-students are also on the frontline of bringing new communications
methods to the mainstream. J-Source provides a wealth of links and
resources for student journalists in the Student Lounge.
This semester, go forth and out-scoop us all!
