Charlie Beckett, on his Guardian blog Comment is Free . . . , discusses British media coverage of Muslims in 2006. Beckett writes the “year of the Muslim media began with the Danish cartoon controversy.” Since then, “[J]ournalists put the whole of Muslim culture and politics under the microscope.” Beckett talks to a range of journalists, including some who believe the media in Britain aren’t capable of covering Muslim stories fairly. Still, he has hopes for “a real story to be told about the more radical parts of British Islam.”
